River Park Christian Reformed Church was started in 1952, as First Christian Reformed Church, when a like-minded group of families decided to form a new congregation of the Christian Reformed Church (CRC). Most of our first members were Dutch immigrants to Canada.
The CRC has its roots in the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century. The Reformed churches flourished throughout Europe. In the middle 1800s, some of these Reformed people from the Netherlands moved to the United States, and in 1857 they started the Christian Reformed Church in North America. You can learn more of the history of the CRC HERE.
Already in its early days, First Christian Reformed Church was a group with a strong emphasis toward outreach ministries in the community. When we bought our current building across on 38 St SW, we changed our name to River Park Church. Today, we are a diverse community of faith that seeks to live out the way of Jesus Christ in our world.
